Who can participate in Amherst Summer Recreation?

Registration is open to any Amherst Schools student who has successfully completed Kindergarten through the age of 12.

When can I register my child and how much does it cost?

Registration is FREE and will take place on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Nord Middle School (back door).  You only pay for the field trips in which your child participates (you pick and choose).  There is no cost to participate in open gym activities or other activities taking place at the center.  Registration will continue throughout the summer when the center is open.

When is Amherst Summer Recreation open?

Amherst Summer Recreation is open Monday-Friday from 8:00am-noon and again from 1:00-3:00pm on days in which no event is planned.  Students must be picked up for lunch at noon. The center will not be open in the afternoon during afternoon events and will not be open any days in which we are on an all day field trip.

How do I pay for my child to participate in field trips?

Field Trips:  Permission slips and money MUST be turned in by the 11:45 AM deadline on the date upon which they are due.  Field trips are first come, first serve-- sign up early!!  Also, due to Board of Education policy, it is impossible to accept checks for any Summer Recreation activity.  Therefore, we accept CASH ONLY!
Note: Refunds for field trips can ONLY be made prior to the permission slip due date.  Once the deadline has passed, NO REFUNDS can be made-- NO EXCEPTIONS!!

Exact change is appreciated when paying for field trips.

Will an event be cancelled due to inclement weather?

All trips should be considered rain or shine events.  However, if weather is severe enough that the event location itself is not open, you must still show up at the designated time to find out if the trip has been cancelled and/or if the trip has been rescheduled.  In the event that we must cancel a field trip due to weather, your money will be refunded to you.

Can parents attend field trips?

Parents are welcome to join us at Skateworld, Rebman's Bowling, Amherst Cinema, Hastee Tastee and the annual picnic. Parents may attend other field trips as chaperones. Payment for chaperones is due at the same time as student permission slips.  Chaperones must be at least 18 years of age.

How do students travel to the field trips?

Children must travel to and return from all day field trips on the school bus.  Depart and return times are listed on the calendars and individual permission slips.
